    Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain had a distinguished four-decade career in the Indian Army, serving in challenging operational areas such as Sri Lanka, Siachen Glacier, North East India, and multiple tenures in Jammu & Kashmir. He also took part in UN peacekeeping missions in Mozambique and Rwanda.
